The University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn is the largest higher education institution in a region. It was established on September 1, 1999. The university combines a tradition of the University of Agriculture and Technology, the Higher Teacher Education School and a 450-year tradition of theological education in Warmia. 14 faculties operate at the university operate which provides education to over 40,000 students at three levels of education (BSc, MSc and PhD). The experts active in the Coach BioEnergy project work at the Faculty of Environmental Management and Agriculture of the university. This unit has had long lasting experience in bioenergy research and is a base of Center of the Research on Renewable Energy.

The main field of research is the intensive production of biomass of short-rotation willow plantations and environmental applications of short-rotation willow coppice. UWM as a partner in consulting has an added value because of the fact that in north of Poland in virtually each local administration unit, company operating in an agricultural and energy sector graduates from UWMN are always employed. The role of UWM in the project is providing consultancy for potential and actual biomass growers in the region and beyond. Dissemination of the best practices in management Moreover UWM has a natural links with extension service institutions in a north Poland. During the Coach BioEnergy project UWM will be active in providing and selecting information especially on the production of lignocellulose biomass of short-rotation plantations in agriculture.

UWM supports the project in the role of a Support Knowledge Provider (SKP).
